A bit of Christmas

Christmas is the holiday to dress-up. Unfortunately I had a flu and I really had no energy to do anything at all. I wasn't wearing any of my magnificent dresses and I barely ate the Christmas dinner. In short, next year will be better. Even though I did not really enjoy Christmas did year, still had to make some cute pictures :)

Inspiration; fabulous bloggers

Sometimes you just need some fashion inspiration. My biggest inspiration is my list of my favourite bloggers. I just wanted to point out two of my favourite bloggers, Fashion Chalet & Sincerely Jules, because they always give me great ideas.

Chanel Rescue

I'm very sorry for neglecting my blog. I've had a few rough weeks of illness. I'm still recovering from my flue. A depression is close by, because I missed a lot of dinner parties, days of work and of course energy to blog.

The coming weeks I will end my internship at SWYF.com, so I'll be very busy! But after that I will be blogging a lot more often and I will update my whole blog.
I hope you guys can wait a little longer.

Hope you had a nice Christmas!

Never Shop Alone..

Shopwithyourfriends made this amazing movie about their concept. We just launched the video. "Never Shop Alone" it's called, like the text on our totes. You can see me and the fabulous tote on the first pic.

Reachable Versace

I got a love-hate relationship with H&M Designers-Collaborations. On one hand, it still is H&M, so that means it's not a high quality product. It doesn't mean I don't like H&M, I love it in fact, but wouldn't pay €100,- for a dress. So, my mind says I must not pay €180,- for a H&M-Versace dress, but my heart only says 'VERSACE'. I guess my last statement is the whole idea of these collaborations right?

Anyway, I followed my heart and went to the opening of the collection. I had a few items in mind which I liked, but I had a little delay so I was like 30 minutes late and the cute dress and skirt I wanted were already gone. Which actually came out quite well, because my savings account is becoming smaller and smaller.
The Pelle Borchie legging was still waiting for me, so that was the only item I took.
On second thoughts the legging was the best choice for me, because it wasn't expensive and it fits really well in my black-bottem-collection.
Everybody has an opinion about the collection, well, I don't care if you hate or love the collection. I'm happy with my own little cheap Versace item.

Sequin-love

There are (many) times that I'm broke. I'm a student, so it's nothing unusual.  In times like that I like to order online at H&M, because you can pay a month later. Most of the times I send it back, but last week I received my package with this sequin dress, it was half price so I didn’t expect much. But I looove it! It almost looks expensive haha. All my friends were shocked when I told them it bought on H&M. Too bad it’s almost freezing outside, but still, you can never have too many dresses right.

Twenties in Paris

Today I watched the movie Midnight in Paris. Loved the movie, especially because of all the beautiful dresses in twenties fashion. Sequin dresses are my favorites <3.

Designers-United: It's a VIP night out

Designers-United is a very cool online shop. They sell very special brands and also small labels from young upcoming designers. I went to the VIP night and also had an interview with the founder of Designers-United; Savana. Here you can read the article
I really adored the collection of Camilla Norrback, a Swedish brand.

Balloons & the City

Yesterday one of my favv friends celebrated her birthday so we got her the cutest balloons. We had to cross half of Amsterdam with these fluttering friends, but thank god, my friend adored them.

Summer Flashback

Shame on me! I haven't posted for almost two weeks. Well, I've got my reasons! I was ill for a few days and I went for a little trip to Belgium with my friend. I planned a fashion trip, but there wasn't that much fashion, I only bought some basics. But still, we had a blast!

Most of you noticed the not-so-hot weather. I guess I will be cold for the next six months, so I thought let's share some holiday pictures, the're from last summer. Portugal with my love. Hhhmm.

Iris van Herpen and her inspiration: The New Craftsmanship

This designer does not only make fashion, but also art. And I love arty people. So it’s no surprise I went to see her exhibition at the Central Museum in Utrecht (shame on me, it’s already there for a few months and I just recently went there to see it). But I can tell you, I loved it!
Many (dutch) people have heard of Iris van Herpen. She’s one of the most genius fashion designers of Holland. She studied Fashion Design at the ARTEZ academy in Arnhem and did her internships at Alexander McQueen and Claudy Jongstra. In 2007 she started her own label and she became successful, won awards, in just a few years.

The combination of craftsmanship and innovation of technique and materials makes her creations so special. You can say she makes futuristic couture. I guess this will also explain the name of the exposition. One of dresses which was really special was the one who’s made with a 3D printer. Iris likes to try new ways of designing, as long as the material is suitable for clothing. It must follow the shape of the body, also during movements.

Sometimes the meaning of an item is too obvious. I like it when you have to think twice about it. Or, when you ask yourself: “Wtf is the purpose?”. Iris van Herpen makes art where you think twice about (well, I read the explanation at the cart besides the piece). Too me, curious pieces makes me remember it and they inspire me.

This shoe is my favourite piece. It was a collaboration between Van Herpen and United Nude. It’s so arty, but still so fashionable. And that’s what defines Iris van Herpen.
The Central Museum of Utrecht has many nice expositions. From time to time fashion designers show their creative collections here. You can find more about the exhibition and other art shows in the Central Museum of Utrecht here.

House of Harlow 1960

House of Harlow 1960. I love it. And I found (accidentally) a very cute replicate! I'm kind of addicted to cocktailrings, so I also bought a cute Star ring and a Snake one.
